Kiki Health: The Organic and Natural Supplement Revolution
Kiki Health has become a go-to name in the world of organic and natural supplements. This innovative British brand offers nutritional supplements made from whole ingredients, or...
Kiki Health Ionic Zinc Liquid Concentrate is zinc in its ionic state (Zn2+), the most easily absorbable form by the body. Unlike solid forms (gluconate, citrate, zinc oxide in tablet), ionic liquid zinc does not require a gastric dissolution process — it is directly available for absorption in the small intestine. The bioavailability of ionic zinc is significantly superior to zinc oxide (one of the least well-absorbed forms), commonly used in inexpensive supplements.
Zinc is involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions in the human body. It plays a key role in immunity (T lymphocyte maturation), protein synthesis, wound healing, insulin production, skin health and male fertility. Despite its importance, zinc deficiency is one of the most common in Europe, particularly in vegetarians and vegans (phytates in cereals and legumes reduce its absorption), athletes (high sweat losses) and elderly people.
Follow the recommended dose on the label, generally a few drops or a teaspoon diluted in water or fruit juice. Zinc has a relatively low toxic threshold compared to other minerals: the tolerable upper daily intake is 25 mg/day for adults (EFSA). Do not accumulate several zinc sources without calculating your total intakes.
High-dose zinc taken on an empty stomach can cause nausea. Take Kiki Health Ionic Zinc with a light meal or diluted in a glass of fruit water to minimise gastric discomfort. Avoid taking it with a meal rich in phytates (wholemeal bread, legumes) or calcium which reduce its absorption. Morning intake is generally recommended.
Kiki Health offers a range of ionic concentrates (Zinc, Magnesium, Iron) that can be combined. However, be careful: zinc and iron at high doses compete for absorption — avoid taking them simultaneously. Zinc and magnesium are compatible. Vitamin C improves ionic zinc absorption. These concentrates lend themselves well to customising your micronutrition protocol.
This is precisely its core target. For vegans, whose diet is naturally lower in bioavailable zinc (animal zinc better absorbed than plant zinc), the ionic concentrate effectively compensates. For endurance athletes who lose zinc through sweat (up to 1.5 mg/hour of intense effort), supplementation is often essential for maintaining immune performance and recovery.
Zinc should not be taken in excess over the long term (risk of copper deficiency through absorption competition). People on antibiotics (quinolones, tetracyclines) should space zinc intake by a minimum of 2 hours. In cases of kidney disease, zinc supplementation should be medically supervised. Do not exceed recommended doses without medical advice.
